Most UK BNPL providers now report to at least one credit reference agency. A missed instalment can therefore affect future mortgage and credit applications.

Late fees vary — some providers cap charges, others don't. Accounts are usually passed to a debt collection agency after around 60–90 days of non-payment.

If BNPL is spreading across multiple providers, list every plan in one place and treat the total as one debt when budgeting.
