Catalogue 'buy now pay later' offers explained

Deferred payment options on catalogue accounts can quietly add hundreds of pounds if the balance isn't cleared in time.

Many catalogues offer 'buy now pay later' or 12-month interest-free windows. If any balance remains after the promo period, interest is often charged from the original purchase date.

Read the small print for the 'settlement date'. Setting a reminder a month early gives you time to move money if needed.

If several promotional balances are ending together, prioritise the ones with the highest backdated interest first.
