Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 4, Plan 5 and Postgraduate loans all have different write-off ages or terms — usually 25, 30 or 40 years from the April after graduation.
You only pay when income is above the plan threshold. Nothing shows on your credit file and there's no formal 'arrears' concept as with commercial debt.
Because repayments are income-linked, student loans are usually the last debt to worry about when budgeting.
